Natural Body Scrub

Updated: Aug 6, 2020

Body scrubs using natural ingredients are nourishing, improve circulation, invigorate and energise both body and mind. Physically they remove dead skin cells, give skin a smooth healthy glow and promote the regeneration of new skin cells. This is a basic recipe that I use with products from my kitchen cupboard. The sugar and salt are gentle exfoliants whilst the oils are moisturising. Epsom salt is known to relieve aches and pains and is also a great choice to use instead of sea salt.

I love the addition of pure essential oils as they have a wonderful effect on our emotions. Depending on the oils we choose they can be either calming and relaxing or uplifting and invigorating. Including them in your homemade scrubs will infuse your creations with extra health benefits, give an aromatic experience and make them more indulgent.

BODY SCRUB – Basic Recipe

1 cup white sugar or ½ sugar ½ salt

2-3 tablespoons melted coconut oil

¼ cup grapeseed/ sweet almond/olive oil

10-12 drops of essential oil

Combine all of the dry ingredients in a clean bowl and gradually add the melted coconut oil. You can use use part sweet almond, olive, fractionated coconut or grapeseed oil. Pour in gradually until the scrub is to your desired consistency.

Add the essential oils, stir and scoop into an airtight glass jar.

HOW TO USE:

Apply to damp skin and rub in a circular motion starting at your feet and working upwards

(do not use on face). Rinse off with warm water to leave skin feeling smooth, soft and moisturised. Use 2-3 times a week to maintain healthy skin.
